CAF Football Federation Duels, Big Test for Envoys

FIVE Tanzania envoys are ready to launch their campaigns on gas pedal as they play in the preliminary round of CAF Interclub tournaments in  five venues this weekend.

At Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Young Africans face hosts  Zalan FC of South Sudan in the first leg match of CAF Champions League  today with each side keen to grab maximum points.

At Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi, Nyasa Big Bullets host Simba in another Champions League match and both seek victory that will  simplify their return leg encounter next weekend.

Also fully involved are Zanzibar envoys KMKM who host Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya at Amaan Stadium today, a match pundits described among the tense games of the preliminary round.

Then tomorrow, the Sudan- based giants, Hilal Alsahil entertain Geita Gold at Al-Hilal Stadium in Khartoum in the CAF Confederation Cup duel.

Geita Gold, the country’s envoys are making their maiden appearance in the international scene. Other envoys are Kipanga, who will be representing Zanzibar in Confederation Cup.

All these matches are essential for Tanzanian envoys to record victories prior to the return leg fixtures bearing in mind that the only way to jump into the first round is by winning by a big margin in both legs.

In his remarks, Yanga skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto reiterated that they are well prepared to face their opponents Zalan FC and stamp good results afterwards.

“We have been training well for this important match and the good thing is that we are all psychologically and mentally ready to fight and by God’s grace, we shall win,” he said.

For Simba, the club’s caretaker coach Juma Mgunda, expressed his satisfaction with the way his charges have responded to training sessions before facing their hosts.

“So far, we are ready for this important game. We are aware that it is not going to be easy but as you know, Simba is a big club with quality players capable to produce good results anywhere,” he said.

Likewise, Geita Gold Head Coach Felix Minziro also backed up his team that they are on full throttle ready to outclass Al Hilal Alsahil at their backyard.

He, however, seized the platform to request the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) to reschedule their Wednesday’s NBC Premier League match versus Singida Big Stars saying by then, his players will be having fatigue.

“Look, we are playing on Sunday in Sudan and then we have to return to Dar es Salaam, travel on road to Mwanza to face Singida Big Stars on Wednesday which is not fair to us at all, hence TPLB should consider  LEAD
