Simba have described the team’s interim Head Coach Juma Mgunda as a right candidate with required credentials to guide them in CAF Interclub games.
Mgunda has since travelled with the team to Malawi ahead of their first preliminary round CAF Champions League match versus Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.A statement issued and signed by the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barbara Gonzalez reveals that Mgunda will be assisted by Assistant coach Selemani Matola.
“Simba administration would like to thank the management of Coastal Union for letting Mgunda to join us through this transition period.
“He holds a CAF A license which qualifies him to be in charge of a team during CAF Interclub matches,” reads part of the statement.
Simba face the tricky away champions league match two days after being held to a 2-2 draw against KMC in the NBC Premier League encounter at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city.
They salvaged a point in the 89th minute thanks to substitute Habib Kyombo’s strike which flattened the curve.
