Mumbai Hospital Supports Government Efforts to Provide Quality Healthcare Services


Tanzania is enhancing its capacity to provide accessible and high-quality healthcare services within the country, as it ushers in Mumbai based Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital’s Coordination Centre’ in Dar es Salaam.


Minister for Health Ms Ummy Mwalimu is set to grace the inauguration of the eminent quaternary care super-speciality coordination centre in Dar es Salaam this weekend.


The centre will enhance the accessibility of advanced medical treatments for patients in Tanzania and the wider East African region by enhancing the availability of specialised medical services within the region, ensuring a seamless and locally accessible healthcare experience.


Director, Mumbai Health care services and associate of the Coordination Centre, Mr David Dickson, said that the objective of the hospital coordination centre was to simplify the process for patients in Tanzania, ensuring that they receive necessary guidance and support throughout their healthcare journey.


He said that this initiative by Kokilaben Hospital will also lay a strong foundation on medical knowledge sharing.

On his part, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Kokilaben Hospital Dr Santosh Shetty, will also be present on the occasion along with super speciality doctors from Kokilaben Hospital, who will speak on advances in treatment protocols.


He said in line with the vision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to provide accessible and high-quality healthcare services within the country, this is a significant initiative by Mumbai Health Services and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.


He said this collaborative initiative is poised to revolutionise healthcare in Tanzania and the East African region, putting Tanzania on the cusp of establishing a centre where local doctors and nurses will embrace medical education on cutting-edge technology and international standards, to meet the healthcare needs of the community.


This will eliminate the necessity for costly overseas treatments and reducing the financial burden on the government, making it a transformative healthcare vision for the benefit of all Tanzanians,”
he said.

The upcoming hospital coordination centre will offer assistance and information, acting as a supportive bridge connecting patients with relevant medical services and specialities in India.


The centre will also promote sharing of medical knowledge and expertise not only to the local medical fraternity in Tanzania but also surrounding regions through facilitating continuous medical education and encouraging the exchange of medical knowledge and explore possibility of setting of world class healthcare facility in Tanzania.


The owner of Mumbai Healthcare services, Mr David Dickson also proposes to build a cancer centre in Dar es Salaam in association with Kokilaben Hospital’s medical expertise and guidance.
