Egyptian Goverment Vows to Support The Healthcare Delivery System in Tanzania

 

THE government of Egypt has reiterated its commitment to support the health sector in Tanzania for quality improvement of the services.

Speaking during a brief handover ceremony of medical equipment held at the Medical Stores Department (MSD) in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, the Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania Mohamed Gaber Abulwafa said his government will continue supporting efforts by the Tanzania government to realise quality delivery of health services in Tanzania.

The government of Egypt through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) donated medical equipment worth  27,000  US  dollars  (approximately 62.9m/- ) to Tanzania.

“We are very keen to extend all kinds of support to the health sector in Tanzania. As you mention this is not the first support and could not be the last. You can count on us,” noted Ambassador Abulwafa.

He added: “We are expecting to extend more support in the future not only for medical equipment but also for medical experts and technical assistance”.

According to the Egyptian Envoy, his country is keen to invest in the pharmaceutical sector in Tanzania under the existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“We are focusing on investment in the pharmaceutical sector in Tanzania. We are very keen to support efforts by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to strengthen the healthcare service delivery for the well being of Tanzanians,” said Ambassador Abulwafa.

“Egypt will continue supporting various sectors in Tanzania in the quest to strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries,” the Egyptian diplomat added.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Director of Pharmaceutical Services and the Government Chief Pharmacist, Daudi Msasi, commended the government of Egypt for continued support to strengthen the health sector delivery in Tanzania.

“On behalf of the health ministry, I appreciate the continued support Egypt has been accorded to Tanzania. I know your time in Tanzania is quite limited but we are optimistic that the donation we received today is not going to be the last,” the Government Chief Pharmacist told the Egyptian Ambassador.
