The Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) announced on Monday that new express train services from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro will start on July 5, 2024 ending speculation on the delayed train.
TRC’s Head of Communication Unit, Jamila Mbarouk said in a public statement on Monday noting that the express trains will be taking off from Dar es Salaam at 06:00 am and 7:10 pm and from Morogoro at 06:20 am and 7:30 pm.
“We have increased our routes due to alarming demand and with these introductions, there will be eight trips in a day with 14 wagons,”Jamila noted.
Ms Jamila detailed the schedule for the regular train departure from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro will be at 9:30 am and 04:00 pm and from Morogoro to Dar es Salaam will be 7:50 am and 04:20 pm.
According to Ms Jamila, the new timetable for the regular trains will also begin on July 5 this year.
Commenting on the transport fare, Ms Jamila said there is no change in the fare, passengers will keep paying the previous announced amount which was 13,000 for adults and for a four to 12 year old will be 6,500.
