The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia has disclosed that the NBC Premier League fixtures will not be paused to pave way for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In his closing remarks of the federation’s 17th Annual General Meeting held on Monday afternoon in Mwanza saying there is no need to momentarily halt the premier league.
“I have been receiving messages from people tasking me to pause the domestic league, some are even threatening to sue me at FIFA.
“What I want to urge the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) is that they should just make sure that those fixtures with big interest of people are properly arranged to avoid inconveniences.
“As you know, we have our broadcasting partners of the premier league Azam and TBC and they are also likely going to broadcast the world cup as such, TPLB should revisit the schedule to avoid problems,”says him.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup kick-off from Sunday November 20th to Sunday December 18th in Qatar, with the opening fixture in group A involving hosting side Qatar against Ecuador.
On November 21st, England will host Iran in a group B opening game.
