Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has disbursed 13.5bn/- to support poultry farmers in the industry that will boost its contributions to economic growth.
The TADB Senior Development Officer, Grayson Ferdinand said at the 6th Poultry Show 2022 in Dar es Salaam over the weekend that the poultry industry has a huge contribution in jobs creation in the country.
“TADB has funded the poultry industry to boost its contribution to employment creation particularly to various groups of youths and women,”
he said noting that the bank will continue to support the sector’s growth.He said the bank’s support to the poultry industry will guarantee food safety as well contribute significantly to addressing unemployment in the country particularly to youths and women groups.
He urged poultry farmers to take advantage of the loan from TADB in order to expand their poultry projects, boost productivity and achieve the country’s high economic growth.
He said poultry sector is growing fast and it is estimated that there are currently over 100 million poultry in various farms. Despite the growth, demand for the birds is still very high in the local market compare to the supply.
The two day exhibition brought together poultry farmers from different parts of the country to showcase various products and share experiences.
Tanzania Livestock Master Plan (2017/2018 – 2021/22) report shows that by 2022, the chicken industry is to a large extent efficient and commercially run, both in commercial and household operations, using improved and highly productive breeds to ensure household food security and higher incomes, and significantly contributes to achieving national all-meat food security, and higher national income while being resilient to climate change and conserving the environment.
