YOUNG Africans Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi has urged his charges to practice a lot on scoring efficiency saying they missed good scoring chances.
His sentiments came after guiding his side to a massive 9-0 aggregate victory over Zalan FC at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam over the weekend thereby cruising into the first round of CAF Champions League.
In the first leg, they produced a 4-0 victory before stamping a 5-0 win in their second leg battle.
The team’s top striker, Fiston Mayele scored a hat-trick in both matches.
After a barren draw in the first half, Farid Mussa scored an opener in the 47th minute before Stephanie Aziz Ki added the second paving a path for Mayele’s superb hat-trick which saw him walking away with the game’s ball.
“I am not completely satisfied with the way we played especially in the first half because we missed a lot of scoring opportunities which means we still have a lot of work to do at the training field.
“If you face a big team and you fail to convert from few chances you create, then the game could be tough to your side…that is why I insist that we have to improve on our scoring capabilities,”
Nabi said.
He added that his playmaker Stephanie Aziz Ki is yet to get to his usual playing format saying his teammates have not yet understood his pattern of play hence once they know each other better, his performance will double.
He also seized the platform to thank the guest of honour on the day Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa for giving them encouragement before the match insisting that the good gesture will make them much stronger.
Again, the Tunisian coach urged those responsible in making fixtures to consider about lives of players as they have lately been engaging in competitive games after every three days a thing he said is not healthy to them.
“For example, some of our players have been called in the national team ‘Taifa Stars’ squad meaning that they will play in two friendly matches and thereafter, they will come back and go straight to fulfill league assignments.
“Players are human beings and they too need time to relax as such, for the sake of promoting the country’s football, those responsible in making fixtures should take into consideration about protecting health of these players,”
he said.
His center-back Yannick Bangala said teamwork has enabled them to progress into the next stage of the competition while insisting that they will continue to train hard to do well in other upcoming champions league fixtures.
