CBE College Organises Fundraising to Raise 1.2bn/- for Girls’ Hostel

THE College of Business Education (CBE) has organised fundraising event to collect 1.2bn/- for construction of girls’ hostel in its Mbeya’s campus.

This was said on Friday by CBE’s Rector, Professor Emmanuel Mjema, when briefing journalists about the fundraising event which will climax on September 24, this year in Mbeya Region.

He said the college decided to start with the construction of girls’ hostel because of their vulnerability when they stay off campus compared to male students.

Prof Mjema said the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Tulia Ackson is the patron of the CBE Mbeya campus and she has been in the forefront to solicit funds from various stakeholders for the construction of the girls’ hostel.

He said many diploma and certificate students are at adolescent stages so it becomes very difficult for them to stay off campus while pursuing their studies.

“To start with female hostels does not mean that we don’t care about male students affairs but we consider the fact that girls are more vulnerable in off campus environment compared to boys but after this we will continue with boys hostels,”
he said.

Either, he said the college has done all efforts to reach various stakeholders including institutions, public and private agencies to solicit funds for the construction of the hostel.

“We have engaged honorable members of parliament who are important stakeholders in the education sector and we would like to ask others well-wishers to join hands with us in this campaign to make our dreams come true for the benefit of our girls,”
he said.

He congratulated various stakeholders who have already contributed in the fundraising and those who have promised to contribute.

Professor Mjema mentioned donors who have already contributed as NMB, Weight and Measures Agency (WMA), Business Registration and Licensing Authority (BRELA), Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), National Housing Corporation (NHC), St John University, CBE members of the board,  CBE alumnae and current student, Mbeya Regional Commissioner, Mbeya , Juma Homera, who have donated 5,000,000.

“On behalf of the CBE Mbeya Campus patron Dr Tulia Ackson, we welcome all stakeholders to this fundraising event which will be held on September 24, this year in Mbeya, he appealed.
